School’s out for summer! But if you’re a teacher you may already be thinking about new ways you can engage the children in your classroom when the fall semester rolls around. Why not try bringing a board game into the classroom and make learning fun!
Many board games can teach children valuable skills in math, grammar and history. For example Word on the Street is an excellent game to teach children spelling and strategy. It was also selected as this year’s 2010 Mensa Favorite Brainy Games Winner. Another series of games that teach children Geography and feature wonderful illustrations are the 10 Days in… series by Out of the Box Games. 10 Days in Europe, Africa, Asia and the USA are available. The possibilities are endless when you bring board games into the classroom.
Sound like a great idea but not sure where to get started? There are some great resources available to help you come up with creative ideas on how you can incorporate board games in your class. Games for Educators is an extremely useful website that features a forum to discuss ideas with other educators, ideas and teaching strategies, podcasts, a newsletter that offers valuable insight and much more. Whether you are a teacher or a parent it is worth checking out.
In addition, you can also visit our shop and our friendly staff can assist you. We have many games in our demo library as well if you would like to try a game to see if it’s right for your class.
